(french *>*) i'm sure you bumped the colour some?! this is gorgeous! i forget; don't they have a large bean? what is ricin poison?! i just got worried the other day cuz jesse is fascinated by japanese hand weapons, ie throwing knives, stars etc. deadly stuff! and you look on ebay and they are selling those things by the THOUSANDS?!!!! NOT to jesse! he has too many teenage friends that come over and besides i just don't want to live with a weapon of any kind in the house other than my cooking knives!

i didn't bump the color, but i selected the red pods and some of the leaves, then darkened them to make the color more like the rich, bright reds and purples that they really are (just because the 3 pictures i shot of these castor bean plants were all a little overexposed and paler than they should have been).

wolf is obsessed with weapons of all kinds. drives me crazy. seems like most boys their age are. when he starts talking about guns or knives or swords or light sabers, my eyes just glaze over...

i know... kind of makes you see where war comes from... nothing personal, just some %*(%)%*#$ guy hormones (i really do NOT like hormones! they make us weepy and men roostery!)! the best thing we got in a long time was a piece of pvc pipe, fairly long (4-5'?), maybe 3/4" diam (maybe not -- i'm not great at guesstimating *>*) that we wrapped in eggcrate foam pretty heavily and the kids bop ea other/spar that way... jesse did get hurt the other day when 2 of his large friends asked if he wanted them to "sandwhich" him, and he said yes... his ribs still hurt! sigh...

my 15 year old nephew, who is 6'1, and has lost about 150 lbs over the past year, just boxed with a bunch of buddies last weekend - and ended up with a black eye. he said he felt humiliated that he didn't know how to box (he was always too obese to play hard before), and i think his friends didn't realize he didn't know what he was doing and so they needed to pull back some. or... even if they DID know, "pulling back" probably never even occurred to them.
