it really is... i wish i could be a city gardener and go around the US encouraging cities and towns everywhere to plant even more flowers! (we're getting better about it - there are so many more private gardens and public flower beds and container plantings than we used to have - but still not nearly as many as in france).

but i know plants in germany are much, much cheaper than here in the US, and i suspect they're equally cheap in france. so... for us, it's a cost issue.

That's amazing, that plants are dearer in the US than in Europe. I thought everything was cheaper in the US. Not sure how the price of plants compares here in Oz........I'm not a gardener.
