EDIT: just want y'all to know that even though this is a manip, all the animals and small boy were actually sitting there all together in the original photos. i simply wanted to use the best faces and positions available from the series of photos i shot that afternoon with the cat, rabbit, boy and wolf-husky all sitting on the couch. we have another cat that i wish had been in the photos. but she refused to sit there, not because of the rabbit or the wolf, which grew up with her, but because she hated the young striped cat and didn't like to be anywhere near him.
so... here is the final manipulation using the first 2 originals (here's one unedited original: [link] ) plus an extra photo that had the cat's tail, because the original 2 didn't show the cat's tail. the photo where i got the tail was also from this series of photos all shot at the same time.
i did a couple of other things, like adding dark space above the head, and to the left of the pic, plus cloning a little extra "cat" on the left side, because in the original, the cat's body is cropped off a little too much. then, i blurred the line between wolf's leg, and the dog's legs, because someone had complained it was too sharp, even though it wasn't a part of the manipulation. and i corrected a tiny bit of tilt.
anyway, i just liked the arm and hand position, along with the cat and rabbit dynamics, from the vertical image, but my son wolf's face and body, and ookami, of the horizontal image, so combined them for what i feel is a little more powerful portrait.
but... this is still not exactly right. i feel it could be better, so i would like to hear any constructive criticism you guys have to offer
hunter the cat, bunny the bunny, wolf the boy, and ookami the wolf hybrid.
i always loved this photo, but i never realized it was a composite of two photographs! (which goes to show how well manipulated this way) i will really have to try this technique, but i don't know if i could ever pull it off like you did.
i really love how you combined the two to bring out the best in both photos, and give a whole new feeling of artistry to the final piece. it reminds me of old world paintings, just absolutely exquisite.
hehe... i'm glad you couldn't tell. i think i mentioned it on my site at the time i put it up... what, a couple of years ago for new years (i shot these just before xmas, so didn't have time to send it out for that). anyway, i always try to tell people right away what parts are collaged, because they always ask if it's a manip just because they can't believe all the animals would sit/lay together, but ironically, that's not the manipulated part
