You have a real knack for capturing dramatic skylines. It's something I've never been able to master. Very nice work!

lol... it does have a bit of a snapping turtle back look :D well, at least that part of oregon - that's the eastern part that is still like south-western idaho (where boise is), and is more arid and desert like. most of oregon is temperate rain forest - covered with green trees, waterways, ferns and rain :D

You make it sound so tempting! Jeff and I are hoping to travel some this year, but so far we (I) haven't been organized enough!!!

my husband and i used to drive around the US all the time... and almost everywhere we went (or passed through), we'd say, "omg... this is so beautiful! we should move here!" and get all excited about the idea of living there.

where are you guys? i mean, what state... you don't need to tell me the city if you don't want :)

We live in western North Carolina. It's beautiful here. Last of the Mohicans was filmed in this area. :)

I think Ocracoke is off the coast of South Carolina, but I'm not sure. South Carolina is gorgeous too - I lived in Charleston for a few years. :)

Ooh I like this one! Hmmm 'increased contrast and brightness selectively'. Selectively? You can do that? I am such a dumb arse at Photoshop! :O-o: Will have to get lessons I think.

on the menu or whatever it is called, to the left of photoshop, are a few "selection tools." one set is called "lasso tools", and the one directly to the right of that is called "magic wand tool" and looks, ta da, like a magic wand! they have slightly different ways of working - one works better in one situation, another in a different situation, but sometimes it just comes down to personal preference :)

the thing to remember when you start playing with the selection tools is that you need to "feather" the selection, either by a small number (like "5 pixels") on up to a big number like "250 pixels" so that whatever change you make on an area doesn't have an obvious "demarcation" line...

anyway... i once paid a teacher the same amount i would have paid for his 3 week course to privately tutor me for 6 hours (over a 2 day weekend), and it helped incredibly - i learned so much (and probably more than i would have in the 3 week course)! so i thoroughly recommend taking a class or getting a tutor for photoshop :D

Cool. Thanks for the crash course. Come to thnk of it I've seen Tenny using those tools. She has been taught some basic photoshop at school. I think I will have a fiddle and try myself and then call on her. Actually, one of the guys that's a member of the camera club i used to be in, works with photoshop where he works - at our local paper on all the colour work (he also trains everyone there as well). I will have to call in a favour I think. We're both mac users and i've given him a good share of software.
